Protests and Riots
Throughout the course of American history, Blacks and other minority groups have struggled to earn rights of equality. And despite all the progress they make in terms of achieving equality, they are too often relegated to subjugation through new biased legislation or simply through prejudiced acts against them. As tensions continuously build through this cycle of oppression, it often results in the oppressed taking a stand collectively in the form of protests. We have seen this numerous times throughout history in varying degrees, with things ranging from boycotts and sit-ins to marches and other non-violent gatherings in order to bring large scale attention to the issues at hand and the changes they are fighting for. However, there have been also been plenty of instances where non-violent protests have escalated and turned violent. There have been huge race riots where mobs have been formed and cities have been destroyed as a reaction to the systematic oppression that they face with the police and American society overall.
